Ferry boat Night

Ahh memories of Ferryboat Night!  This was back in the day of Old Chanco, we counselors were clever back then finding ways to further wear out the campers for evening program!  The Chanco musicians would lead the campers walking down to Scotsman's Wharf ('single file, people!')  It was there campers would see the old dilapidated warehouse and bar of 'Bluegums' fame as they walked onto the wooden dock to the ferry. Work Weekend is approaching - are you attending?

The fall CCAA Work Weekend is coming up in a few weeks.  Join us the weekend of November 20-22.  Plan on arriving Friday after dinner and staying until Sunday.  We will be doing work projects and clean up around camp.  We are staying in the Watson Lodge so bring food to cook/share.  Please let us know if you are attending by sending an email to ccaareunion@gmail.com.  We hope to see you there.

A Great Loss for the Chanco Family

With great sadness, I post the news of the death of the Rt. Rev. C. Charles Vache.  Bishop Vache died at 2:30 AM on the Feast of All Saints; October 31, 2009. He had been a resident of Westminster Canterbury House in Virginia Beach, VA for several months. Funeral Services are being planned for Trinity Church in Portsmouth, VA.  Bishop Vache was the Rector there for many years until he was elected Bishop. continue reading »

Chanco Work Weekend November 20-22

Are you already having Chanco withdrawal after the incredible second annual 40th reunion?  Were you unable to make the reunion and looking for any excuse to spend the weekend at Chanco?  Well, there is a solution to these dilemmas!  We have scheduled a fall work weekend for November 20-22.  We are compiling a list of maintenance and general cleaning tasks that need to be done around camp, and then when the work is done, we will have plenty of time in the evenings to eat drink and socialize!  This year we will have the use of Watson Lodge for sleeping accomodations a continue reading »

The Second Annual 40th Anniversary of Camp Chanco

Former campers and counselors gathered at Chanco for another successful CCAA (Camp Chanco Alumni Association) reunion weekend on September 10-12.  Perhaps people came in search of familiar faces, to revisit memories from years gone by, or both.  Whatever brought them back to the shores of the James River, a wonderful time was had by all.  continue reading »
