Hey Chanco!!

I have missed you Camp Chanco!!

New but "Old"

Hey Greg and all Chanco Alums:
Don't know if there's anybody out there who remembers MamaSue but that's me and I'm still around. For those who have no idea who this is - I was on staff of Sr. High from 1976 to 1981 - the last year I was the Business Manager, having quit my city job prior to going to seminary in Sewanee. Been ordained for 23 years. Heard from Cissy recently and she told me about this great site - I love it! I just looked at Sr High 1979, Greg - I was there - remember how many times we sang Suzanne??

I'm semi-retired from the church - that's clergy talk for only doing the things I want to do. Actually, I'm retired from active ministry in the Episcopal Church - I'm doing services for a tiny little Methodist congregation in upstate New York where I live near Scott and his family. Yes, little(?) Scott grew up, got married, has a wonderful wife and 2 precious children, who are of course the best grandchildren in the world! He's a paramedic - no surprise there - and holds down 2 full-time jobs, 1 as a supervisor of an EMS squad and 1 as a Sr Medic for the Albany Co Sheriff's Dept. He works very hard and is a great husband and dad. (By the way, my user name is a more accurate form of MamaSue - My grands call me Gabba and I hate the name Sue!)

I have a great "I'm retired but need insurance until I'm 65" job - I'm an Auto Travel Counselor with AAA in Albany NY and I love it. I get to take people's money and tell them where to go! Doesn't get better than that!

So, that's the update on the Bowman's. Hope to hear from some of you Chanco-ites I knew and hope to make it to a reunion soon. I don't know if the camp can take a reunion of Cissy and Cindy and MamaSue but we'd like to try it!

One of my fondest memories of Camp Chanco (the old one) is the day I left for seminary in August of 1981. With my dad leading the way in a U-Haul truck (loaded with everything I owned which had been stored in the Arts & Crafts building the last few weeks of the summer) with Scott in the front seat and my Mom and I following in my newly paid-off red Mustang with the camp's archery target strapped to the roof of the car (thanks to Jeff et al), I left Camp Chanco for the last time (my Mom and I managed to push the target off and leave it in the middle of the road!!) knowing that I had just experienced some of the best times of my life. I was right! Nothing has ever matched those days at CC!

Blessings to you all,
Susan
