Camp Attendance Numbers

Does anyone know how Chanco did on attendance numbers this summer? Were/are all sessions full? What's the status of family camp in August?

Here are the numbers

Art also reports that Junior and Senior High will be held this summer, camp store sales are up, the conference center (lodging and meals) is breaking records so far this year, and that everyone loved the camp nurse this summer (thanks to Jim Sitzler for finding her).  The final results from the ACA accrediting board are not back yet, but Art reported that they were "truly impressed with Jim Sitzler's ability to pull it all together."  They are expecting a high score when the results come back in October.  Overall, Art reports that things are "looking very, very good for Chanco."  Wow!  What an amazing turn-around from last fall when we thought we might have to close Chanco's doors forever!  Congratulations to the Chanco on the James Board and to Jim Sitzler and the staff for a successful summer!!  Also, many thanks for the tireless efforts of all the volunteers and employees, past and present, who have worked so hard to change the fate of Chanco.  It is wonderful when so many people come together to support something they love and believe in - and show that they really can make a difference!   The CCAA Board

hey boomer ...

jim sitzler was talking about this at the jr/sr high meeting, but i unfortunately was not paying close attention.  i am pretty sure he said the surfing out trip was canceled.  the outtrips that didn't require a minimum attendance (i think he said ones that were outsourced) were held.  1st session was completely full, 2nd session had high attendance (alhtough i am not sure how high), and i don't know the rest.  i did hear at one point this summer that registration exceeded expectations.  i am sure jim would have numbers.

am glad to hear you will be at the reunion!

Camp Numbers

Camp numbers are up this year.  115+/- first session, I think they had over 100 for session 2, I do not know about session 3, but that was up as well.  Chanco is in the black as far as camp goes.  Family camp was cancelled just this week for lack of interest.  Maybe next year.

Hard Numbers

Can anyone get hard camper numbers for each session? What about which Out Trips filled up and their numbers? Which Out Trips got cancelled? How about Canteen store sales? I know there are alot of us who are waiting to see the financial viability of camp before donating any of our own funds. Who can get us this info?

I would also like to know how the new nurse worked out. What was the injury rate and how did the new food service company do? Did they cover their costs and save the food budget for the camping program. What about over all donations from other sources?

I’m very happy to hear generally that numbers are on the rise. With all the alumni effort it definitely had a positive return on the camp census. Who can get us accurate numbers?
