Capital Campaign? Summer Campers!

Greetings,

I hope all are well! I was just wondering what ever happened to the 5M Capital Campaign? Did the consulting firm ever give a report to the COJ Board compiling all the interview data? I would love to see any info on that. If anyone knows anything, please post it here. Thanks.

Don't forget about spreading the word to everyone you know about sending their child to camp. This is the time that parents start deciding their summer plans and sign kids up for camp. Lets continue to build on our hard work from last year! I wonder if we can get a waiting list again at Chanco!

I'm sure if you contact the Chanco Office (phone: 757.294.3126 or chanco.org), they would send you some brochures so you can give them to your neighbors, your child's school, and your work place. This is an easy way for the Alumni to support camp in the most beneficial way!

Life is good,
Boomer

Capital Campaign

Hi Boomer!

There WAS a report from the Curtis Group at the October board meeting. I had a copy of the report that I seemed to have misplaced, but the gist of what they found was that now is not the right time for a multi-million dollar Capital Campaign. There are many people that love Chanco ... just not enough people willing to part with lots of money. Chanco first needs to raise awareness. In the meantime they can (and I believe it is in the plans) raise money for projects (rebuilding the dining hall and conference center lodges, for example). In a few years they will reexamine the possibility of raising big bucks.

The report did say that they were amazed at the overwhelmingly positive response former campers and parents of campers had. They said people wrote pages on how much Chanco meant to them! I can't remember if the report included some of the remarks people made.

Hope that answers your questions!

And yes, you are right! We should all be spreading the word! Chanco can't survive without campers!!!
