Live Every Week Like It's Shark Week!!!
So intrepid readers, I am about a week behind on blogging on this site. Three kids, a wife, two jobs, and school full time seem to always find ways to insert themselves between me and my true love, which of course is writing to you guys on this little homepage-away-from-camp of ours. The fact that I am highly skilled and a well trained major league procrastinator honestly has nothing to do with it. At any rate, I am here now. And that is really what is important. So lets stay focused on the issues at hand.
We had a little board meeting not long ago and are trying to get things going for the rest of this year. Our first event will be in May when we will meet at Camp for a “Grunt Weekend”. It is going to be a fun weekend of come as you are and help get Chanco ready for a big summer. We are going to stay in the campsites and bring our own food. There is no cost other than the grueling manual labor we have all grown to love so much. Jim Sitzler, the Camp director, has already got a pretty comprehensive list of things for us to do. Nothing on the bill of fare is so taxing that it cannot be tackled with a minor hangover, so be not afraid. Bring the kids, some wine and a few tools and we will howl at the moon for a couple of nights and slave away in the sun. I do not have the dates in front of me, but I am certain someone with better honed organizational skills will post them below or at a later date. Just set aside every weekend in the month of May and you will have a pretty good chance of being available.
And speaking of being available, we are going to put on another reunion this year in September. This second annual 40th reunion is going to be bigger and better than the last, so please plan to attend. We will put a detailed list of events and attendees as they become available. I know it is a long way off to start thinking about, but in the words of Richard Cushing, “Always plan ahead. It wasn’t raining when Noah built the ark.” Again, the dates are all the way across the room and I am just too lazy to get up and get them. Plus I am weighed down dramatically by the box of Girl Scout Cookies that I just ate. We are going to have Indian Night again, live entertainment and with the earlier dates this year, maybe a little more activity on the waterfront. I expect everyone who was there last year to arrive early and bring a friend. I am really looking forward to it already, hope everyone else is too. If you have any ideas of how to improve on last year’s weekend, or just something you would like to see done feel free to drop me a line. Just be gentle as I really do not take criticism well. I am terribly sensitive, a little unstable, and a damn fine shot from a bell tower.
One last thing is that we still have a few, ahem, T-shirts left. We sold enough to pay for all of them, so any we sell now are pure profit, which all goes to Chanco. If you didn’t get one last year, it is definitely not too late to pick one up. Maybe yours is already stained and worn from constant wear and needs to be replaced. Maybe you couldn’t be with us last but want to lie to your friends and attempt to prove you were by showing them the commemorative shirt. Fine by me. I’ll even swear you stayed in the room next to me and, if you like, Photoshop you into a couple of photos with my family that will be suitable for framing. I have no pride. Hell, I just ate a cookie that I dropped in the trashcan, and I can assure you it was not the first time this has happened. At least this time it was my own trashcan. Whatever your needs are, these shirts will meet and exceed them.
So let me know what time you are arriving, both in May and September, and how many shirts I can put you down for. I am always at tater@chancoonce.com. I love to get mail. Nothing is as dear to my heart as the strident ring of my blackberry in the quiet of night.

Work Weekend
Hey Tater - or anyone else - please let us know the dates for the work weekend as soon as possible for those that need to request time off. Thanks! ~ Heather Chapman
Work Weekend May 15th-17th
Be there or be square! :)
I hope to see MANY helping hands making light work of all that Chanco needs to get ready for another wonderful summer!
I'll be there on May 15th-17th for Work Weekend. Who else can make it?
Work Weekend
I'll be there, God willing and the creek don't rise! (Even if the creek does rise...)
