How does this one go? Songs we did sing a lot at the seasons it was always a memory to take back home. It was fun being the kid singing for our meals then it was even more fun to be a couselor making the kids sing before letting them into dining hall. But I always loved that Mountain Dew Song.

they call it that good ol'
they call it that good ol' mountain dew, moutain dew and them that refuse it are few (mighty few!)
i'll hush up my mug if you fill up my jug with that good ol' mountain dew (yee haw!)
little billy blake, fell in the lake, everybody thought he was through (poor billy!)
but he couldn't sink 'cause he just had a drink of that good ol' mountain dew (yee haw!)
... there are more verses, but i don't remember them all
more Mountain Dew
This is probably my favorite song. I laugh whenever I think of it., and as an “grown up” (gasp!) I can’t believe we actually sang a song about moonshine! At the same time I LOVE that we sang this song. Parents today seem very uptight, but I live in the North now. I like to believe kids can still get away with singing this in VA.
I could have the words wrong…please correct me and add if you can!
My Auntie Sue’s got a new perfume, has such a sweet smelling fume...
Boy she was surprised when she had it analyzed, it was nuthin’ but that good ole mountain dew.
My Uncle Bill’s gotta still on the hill, puts out a gallon or two (or three!)
The birds in the sky get so high they can’t fly from that good ole mountain dew.
First you take some hash, mix is with some mash, put it in an old rubber shoe.
Mix it for a while with an ole rusty file, that’s how you get that good ole mountain dew.
Pretty sure the word hash isn't the original version...
Another verse
I remember my sister Marguerite teaching me this one. I expect she is the authoritative source on verses for this one:
My cousin Mort,
He's sawed off and short, He measures
just four foot two,
But he thinks he's a giant,
when you give him a pint of that
good old mountain dew.
Here's a verse for you that I remember fondly.
My counselors in 1988--the two Robs, Jones and Lashley--were inordinately fond of this particular verse and would sing it whenever they could find an excuse. I don't think it ever reared its head when the entire camp was gathered together, but they sang it so often around the campsite or while walking from place to place that it's burned into my brain to this day:
Camp director Gene has a still in canteen, pours out a gallon or two (or three)...
When [can't remember the specific reference here, but it was some generic position of authority that was above camp director]'s about, he just passes it out, and there goes that good ol' mountain dew!
Hah. Obviously this verse dates from the days of Gene King's directorship.
