Why I'm going to the Reunion this year

SO....Who's going to the Reunion? I am... Because I can't think of a better way to spend an early September weekend than with friends I know, and friends I haven't met yet....at a place that helped to make me who I am today. Chanco is in my blood, and is part of my soul. It's caused me to do things I haven't considered doing before. I've never been one for much outdoor physical labor. But scroll back to May 2009 at the work weekend; there I was applying hammer to nails (big ones--and a full size hammer, not one of those girlie ones). I helped build three picnic tables so that the kids would have a smooth surface for their behinds, for their activities and meals this summer...and many to come I hope. I'm going to the Reunion because being at Chanco, and with the people of Chanco reminds me of what is really important in life. I'm going because my Chanco "home" never changes. When I experience in my life, and witness in the lives of those I love, disappointments, hardships, challenges...Chanco is a Constant. Always there, ready to rejuvenate and restore faith; in myself, and in the world. I'm going because there are babies to love, and welcome into the family of Christ. Jevon Garrett said he wanted to bring his new son all the way from New York this year and have him Baptized in the James River. I hope and pray that this is going to work out. I'll be there either way. I'm going so that I can refill my hug account....drink more Cherry Home Brew and listen to David Carter... so I can watch for bald eagles flying along the bluff...so I can see, with satisfaction, the wonderful, productive, caring beautiful adults all those kids I once knew have turned into. Your reasons for going might be different... I'd like to hear them. And just as important, I'd like to see your name on the list of those attending. It's already the end of July, and not too early to make your plans. Please register now. I'm looking forward to seeing you!

Hi Sarah

Hi Sarah, remembering that first reunion a few years ago.  It was so good to see you and remember when you were one of my campers!  Is Fisher coming back?  I will have to wait for another year, but say hello to Jevon and tell him to post some Bluegums stories!!

I'll be there!

How could I miss it?  I can't think of a place I'd rather be!!!  I love what you have written, Sarah, and my reasons for attending are similar to yours.
