Is the Johnny Appleseed Song sung anymore for grace??

"Oh the Lord is good to me

and so I thank the Lord for giving me

the things I need The sun and the rain and the

appleseed the Lord is good to me! "

Back in 1975, Session II was 2 weeks of solid rain, we began to suspect that that song caused it to rain in our part of Virginia when sung by campers of Chanco!! (it must be that, because when I sing it by myself especially during the droughts we have had, I do not see any results!!) We agreed not to sing it for a few weeks after that session, but then realized we are not supposed to be superstitious!!

That was the only time in my life I was homesick! Something about putting your head down to sleep and finding that your pillow has mildew!! As a matter of fact everything mildewed!! The canvas tents were really icky. Fuzzy stuff growing on them!! But we were a creative staff! Mudfights, spontaneous rounds of "Singing in the rain..." Waterfront activities in the dining hall (benches turned over to be canoes, strokes still taught, teaching basic water safety with relays) Free Swim in the rain as long as it was not thundering, Lots of arts and crafts We had Pirate Day for the Special Day with a "Peter Prune" Theme. (Remember Tinky and Winky by Rick Hall and Tony) We did not resort to movies back in those days. Skits from the pillow cases, talent nights....
