Sarah Etheridge Cargill
Greetings from Maryland! I was born 01/03/1964 and grew up in Portsmouth, VA attending Trinity Church in downtown. Graduated Cradock HS in 1982. Attended two years at Old Dominion University. A year in general studies and a year in the Dental Assisting Program. Found a job with a Dentist in Norfolk and a husband. Got married in Portsmouth Nov. 22, 1986. Almost 21 years and going strong.
In 1990 we moved to Savannah, GA after Christopher (hubby) got out of US Navy. Went to GA for Chris's job. Had a son in May 1994--Kristopher. Moved to Maryland in 1995 again for employment reasons. I was an at home Mom until 2004 when I took a full time position in the Development/Membership office at Appalachian Trail Conservancy HQ in Harpers Ferry, WV. Feel free to check out the website; wwww.appalachiantrail.org to see what that's all about. Now live in Sharpsburg, MD three miles from the Potomac River, 15 miles from work.
In the late 1980's I developed a serious interest in American Civil War history, and geneology. Have pursued both with considerable reading and research. I am a past president of the Hagerstown, MD Civil War Round Table. I have been able to trace parts of family history back to the 1820's. Seems that both sides of family were of the confederate persuasion.
It's difficult for me now, to seperate my time at Chanco as a camper (Order of Chanco 1980), from attending EYC events there. I have fond memories of both. Many of the same friends I met in EYC were also involved with Chanco as campers/counselors. After being a camper, I worked there as a Counselor, and as a camp crafts teacher. The friends I made, the experiences, the things I learned, the Chanco Spirit all made me who I am today, and will remain with me always. I am so very grateful to my old EYC and Chanco friend Greg, for establishing and working on this site so that we can all reconnect. I'd love to hear from anyone, just to catch up and refresh that Spirit. va.girl@comcast.net And yes... I am standing up! Caritas to you and yours. --Sarah

Hey Sarah...
Our Chanco careers mirrored one another the entire way, except I missed '76 for a trip to Canada
Our 1st session was (yikes) 35 YEARS AGO!? How did that happen?
Glad to hear you are well. This site is fairly mind-blowing....
