2008 Announcements!!!
First let me say that I hope you all are enjoying this Fall. The trees are turning electric yellow, orange, and red here at camp. The wind off the river has a clean and cold punch to it that makes one turn their collar up. It is truly gorgeous – Thanks God!
I want to share a couple of things that folks have been asking about.
First, the Board of Directors has voted unanimously to move forward on a Capital Campaign that will raise several million dollars for Chanco. I will fill you all in later on the specific projects that are greatly needed to continue all programs here. We are going to use a local fund raiser (The Curtis Group) to do a Feasibility Study. During this phase of the campaign they interview selected people to determine the interest level that the individual, family, or business has to support Chanco in our project needs. This list of interviewees is very important because a great majority of the donations are pledged during this phase. My question to all the alumni is; can you pass along any names of people that would pledge hefty donations to Chanco. Their incentive could be that they personally love Chanco or their children love Chanco. Another reason is they may want to dedicate funds to a non-profit organization for tax incentives or to achieve a mission statement goal of their business or organization. Please pass along any names and contact info. you can think of to me at director@chanco.org.
Next, The 2008 summer camp schedule is out and I want to share it with you all. Take notice of the many out trip opportunities offered. This is for several reasons. First of all, and most importantly, kids love out trips. They are fun and really provide an experience that can’t be achieved on campus. Secondly, they can generate a nice profit margin and help to keep camp in the black. Also notice that Second Session is an “Open Session”. This is something we tried last summer with wonderful feedback from the campers, parents, and counselors. Open means that the full ranges of ages are welcome; 8-18 y.o. This gives busy families a chance to send all their kids at once to better accommodate their activity-packed summers. Additionaly, younger kids can attend with an older sibling for support. We will be sending out the schedule dates to churches and private schools in our region by the end of the month. Please use the info. now if you want or request 2008 Camp brochure. They are not printed yet, but will be soon. The schedule will be on our camp webpage at www.campchanco.org.
Please call me with any questions or suggestions. Thanks so much for your continued support and devotion.
