How does it all work?

It works like camp, strangely enough.

You:

It's the night before Big Day. You are dead non-counseling staff or a counselor with the night off. Forget hooking up with that girl/boyfriend, you gotta head to the dining hall and help!

This is a community website, which means that although I've set things up, it's up to you to make it go. And that will usually mean typing something for others to read. But you can also tell me what else should be on this website, and we can work to make it more useful and fun.

Me:

I'm like the camp director. I occasionally hunt for mushrooms, hang out in the cool log house, and generally watch while others do the work. Sometimes I have "concerns." But I'm all about "bringing it all together."

I promote the deserving and slap down the unruly. (Which means that something you write may end up on the main page, or you'll be kicked out if you prove disruptive or innappropriate.) And for now I do the coding, so any big changes will have to come through me.

Us:

We work together to create a community. I'm hoping that we can reconstitute that Chanco spirit online.

One of the limitations of camp is that it's a physical place. In the busyness of our adult lives, it's all but impossible to actually go there. And if you do, there's no one there that you know (okay, maybe Bill or Charlie).

I hope that Chanco Once will help the Chanco community reconnect. But not just online. Once you've found friends again, it's a short path to set a date & place to meet. And over dinner and drinks, marvel that 20 years have gone by and everyone's still pretty much the same.
