Old meets New

So I've been trying really hard to think about stories from camp to add here. It's difficult to realize that those stories could be 26 years old now.

I came to Chanco the year after Davenport took over from Charlie. There were still a few staff left from Charlie's years and they new camp, but didn't seem to know EYC, which is where Dave found most of us new folk.

I grew up EYC and thought Chanco was just for church retreats and October weekends until I went to Sr. High 1980 and met Cissy and Greg. I was then easily enticed to work the whole summer 1981 and did so until 1984...after that I worked alot of Sr. High sessions and have even worked at the new camp enough to consider it Chanco. Although alot of my fondest memories come from old camp.

People like Brian Matheson, Marion Gilbert, Lori Glanville, Liz and Lynn, Dane Bragg, Mark Kinser, Phillip Bond, Billy Taylor, George Lampley(archery), Jean(arts/crafts), and a whole lot more I'm sure , made that first summer pretty special. Enough so that I kept coming back eventhough unlike most of them I had a job I had to quit each year and wasn't just a college student on break.

The later years, at the new camp, brought some new freinds into the mix of us old folks from the 80's. Boomer, Helen, Harry, Andy and others joined us or let us join them.

I'll have to get with Greg Helen and Boomer to bring back some memories for future entries, but I have to add a few names before I go, Chris Iber, Eileen(Pat) Walsh, Jevon, Linda Lynch, Chuck Alley, Pam(the water parts for her), Kenny(froggy), Steve Smith, Lisa and Courtney, thanks for alot of good times....I'll have to work on the memories.

Tripper Harrison teachings

I remember Danny sharing this rather Christian virtue relating to winning and losing in life - courtesy of the disciple Tripper Harrison (Bill Murray) Meatballs

And even if we win, if we win, HAH! Even if we play so far above our heads that our noses bleed for a week to ten days; even if God in Heaven above points his hand at our side of the field; even if every man woman and child joined hands together and prayed for us to win, it just wouldn't matter because all the really good looking girls would still go out with the guys from Mohawk because they've got all the money! It just doesn't matter if we win or if we lose. IT JUST DOESN'T MATTER!
