"I miss Chanco..."
I am so happy to connect back with Chanco In fact working closely with tourists at the beach for many summers whenever there is a mention of Chanco I can't help but smile and then frown a little and say "I miss Chanco...". What a magical place to be every summer growing up from age 8 all the way to age 17 when I was priveledged to be a counselor. I learned many things at Chanco and it is the part of the reason I am a teacher today! continue reading »

Hello Chanco Friends,
I'm so happy to have found this site - better late, than never, right?! I was a camper every summer from 1992 up until Senior High Conference in 2000. I was also a part of Happening weekends from 1998-2001 through EYC (St. Thomas, Chesapeake). continue reading »

First memory of Chanco was picking up my older sister from the old Chanco. I remember seeing the ferry boats from the bluff and then they gave me koolaid. Right then and there I knew I was going to be a Chanco camper when I grew up.
Camper from 1989-1995.
Counselor/Art/Outtrips from 1999-2003 and then "a voice from the past" aka Charlie called me in 2006 for a fun trip to West VA (the picture is still on the main Chanco website).
Now an Art Teacher in Northern VA, who'd have thought?

Holly Long
I'm Holly Long, and I'm still trying to figure out all of the years I was at Chanco! I went to the resident camp for several years, went to one senior high conference, and also attended a couple of October Weekends at Chanco. I followed my cousins Lori Long, Darren Long, and Cari Long (now Hall) as well as my sister Jennifer Rush (now Winn) at Chanco. I had some of the best times of my life at Chanco (even met my first boyfriend there, and we were together for about 2 1/2 years!) but for some reason it's difficult to go back and remember what years exactly I went there. continue reading »

hi from lauren jones
hello old friends and new,
I am a few years late in finding this page, but better late than never:)
I was a camper from 1990-1998, and EYCer from 1993-2000 (I was president 99-00), and was a part of Happenings 33-38.
I currently live in Los Angeles with my longterm boyfriend. We are finishing our PhDs in international education. I hope to graduate in a few months. In the past five years, I have lived between Latin America and here; I lived for about 2 years in Nicaragua. continue reading »

I started my camp experience as a staff brat at age 6. My mother was the camp nurse for one, two week, session and my brother John (then called Andy) and I each stayed a week. I'm the youngest of 5 and all of my siblings had been to camp before me, so I was destined to become a faithful Alumni. I loved my first experience with my mother and couldn't wait to become an official camper. continue reading »

Katey Lent (was Kayne-Stevens)
I was a camper from 1996 - 1999 and Staffed as a Lifeguard in 2000. I attended a couple Happenings and October weekends too. I have been married for 5 years to a wonderful guy, Dave and live just outside Tampa, Florida. I have a gorgeous daughter named Charlotte who is almost 3. I hope someday to be able to share Chanco with my husband and daughter, as I'm sure they would love it.
